Frequently asked questions
If you have a question that is not listed, drop us a line and we will come back to you.
How do I know how many lessons I will need?
There is no way of being certain how many lesson you will need. We are all different and learn at a different pace. According to the DVSA, the UK average is about 45 hours of driving tuition, plus 22 hours of private practice. However, our tailored approach and progress tracking app help our customers and coaches to reduce the total time it will take and we regularly get our pupils to test standard in around 35 hours of tuition.
How much will it cost to learn to drive?
The total cost of learning to drive can vary depending on a how many lessons you need and how much private practice you have. If you look at the average number of lessons used per pupil in the UK (45 hours) and typical cost of lessons is between £30 and £40 per hour then the lessons alone could cost between of £1,350 and 1,800 although costs per lesson will vary depending on where you live. If you are unable to have a minimum of 22 hours of private practice in a family car, you may need to pay for more lessons.
The Good news is, with our tailored lesson plans and regular use of Your Driving Coach app, we regularly get our pupils to test standard in around 35 hours of tuition saving you time and money.
Other costs you need to plan for.
Your Theory test will cost £23 and your practical Driving test will cost £62 for a weekday or £75 for a weekend.

What happens if I have to cancel or change a lesson?
We understand that things can change and you may need to cancel or change a lesson from time to time. If this is the case, we ask that you give us as much notice as possible so we can fill the appointment slot. As long as you give a minimum of 48 hours notice for a cancelation, you will not be charged. Cancelations with less than 48 hours notice may be charged but will be at the discretion of Your Driving Coach.
Can I be picked up from work or school and dropped off at home?
Yes. Provided both pick up and drop off location are a reasonable distance apart and you have given plenty of notice, this is perfectly acceptable.
Will I take my test in the car I learn in?
Yes. All the lessons and your test will be in the same tuition vehicle.
