Why should I train to become an Approved Driving Instructor with Your Driving Coach?
Your Driving Coach was built to deliver 2 clear goals.
1 – To provide expert support for students of all backgrounds and abilities whilst offering additional support for those that suffer with their mental health helping them become safe drivers for life.
2- To provide a great place to work, where the team feel empowered, valued and supported to achieve success, both professionally and financially.
We believe that if you are happy and motivated, our students will be too so our priority will be to make sure you get all the support you need to make sure you are successful.
Being a driving instructor is incredibly rewarding and has lots of upsides but like any job, it does have its challenges so it is important to consider everything before making a decision.
Changing career can be a big decision and not one you should take without doing your research so here are some of the key questions that should help you make up your mind. If you have a question that isn’t listed, please get in touch.
What is the training process and how much does it cost?
The training process is in 3 parts:
Part 1 – Theory Knowledge – completed remotely
Part 2 – Driving Ability – in car training
Part 3 – Instructional Ability – in car training
All part 2 & 3 training is ‘in car’ and on a pay as you go basis with zero up front payment. Sessions are flexible and can be worked around your existing commitments and are charged at £40 per hour.
Once you have passed Part 2, the practical driving test and completed 40 hours of Part 3 training , you can apply for a Trainee licence (TL) and start teaching pupils! The TL is available to candidates that have reached a satisfactory standard. You can then gain valuable work experience as a Potential Driving Instructor (PDI) in preparation for the final Part 3 test.
Full details of the process can be found here

There are also ADI test fee’s to pay for so please keep this in mind when budgeting.
How long will the training take and can I do it alongside my current job?
